A BJP leader from Meerut, UP, has been arrested after he allegedly threatened and verbally abused a man during a parking dispute at a hotel. Police said that the accused, Vikul Chaprana, 28, is the district Vice-president of the BJP's Kisan Morcha.
In the video that went viral, a man, Satyam Rastogi, can be seen bowing in a gesture asking for forgiveness while Vikul is hurling verbal abuses. Behind the bowing, there is a group of police officers.
Vikul's associates are also seen breaking car windows and threatening the man and someone with him. The incident is said to have occurred due to a parking dispute, the Indian Express reported.
The video is said to have been recorded on October 19 at the Tejgarhi Medical Police Station in Meerut and was shared by Akhilesh Yadav on X.
Superintendent of Police, Ayush Vikram Singh, said that the BJP leader was arrested on Tuesday after police took cognizance of the video.
The SP said, “A video has gone viral in which two groups can be seen arguing with each other. One group is also seen insulting the other. This incident is said to have happened in the Medical Nagar Police Station area.”

“The main accused has been arrested and an FIR registered on the basis of a complaint under relevant sections, and further legal action is being taken,”
The complaint was made by the victim's younger brother, Aditya Rastogi, who is a Software developer in Noida.
In the complaint, he said, “On Sunday around 10 pm, my brother Satyam Rastogi and his friend went to eat at Punjabi Tadka restaurant near Tejghari Square in Meerut… There, an altercation took place with Vikul Chaprana… He, along with his friends, assaulted my brother… and his friend, and behaved indecently while threatening them.”
BJP district president Shivkumar Rana told PTI, "The video has come to our attention. The party does not condone such behaviour." He also said that state and regional leadership have been informed about the matter.
