A 16-year-old pregnant girl killed her boyfriend after an argument in Raipur, Chhattisgarh. Raipur police recovered the body of the man, identified as Mohamad Saddam, from a lodge in the City’s Ganj police station area.
The girl confessed to committing the crime after returning to her hometown, Bilaspur.
She travelled all the way to Raipur to meet Saddam, who has been working as an MS engineering officer in Abhanpur. Saddam is originally from Bihar.
The two had been staying at a lodge in Satkar Gali, Raipur, since Saturday, reported NDTV.
Bhavesh Gautam, Station-In-Charge, said that the there was an argument between the two.
Investigations revealed that the argument broke out after Saddam pressured the minor girl who is pregnant to undergo an abortion. Hehad even threatened her with a knife outside the lodge a few ladies earlier.
On Sunday night, the girl took the same knife and slit his throat while he was sleeping. She had then locked the room from outside, taken his mobile phone, and fled. The key to the lodge room was thrown near some nearby railway tracks.
After she returned to Bilaspur, her mother confronted her, and the girl confessed to the murder. Her mother accompanied the girl to the Koni police station, where she reported the murder. Raipur police then rushed to the lodge where they recovered Saddam's body.
Police said they are attempting to contact the man’s family. "The deceased's phone is in our custody, and we are tracing his family members through the number. A case has been registered, and the minor girl, who is in conflict with the law, is being interrogated."
Sources said that the minor girl was three months pregnant and refused to abort the child. Saddam allegedly refused to marry her and pressured her to terminate the pregnancy. The two fought over this, resulting in the murder.
Police also confirmed that Saddam had threatened the girl with the same knife that was used to kill him . An investigating officer said, "This appears to be both a crime of passion and desperation. The investigation will establish whether it was premeditated or a spur-of-the-moment act," said an investigating officer.
