In what could be a legal quagmire for disgraced MLA Rahul Mamkootathil, the Kerala Crime Branch is all set to record the statement of the woman involved in the pregnancy row. The audio clip of the MLA forcing the woman to terminate the pregnancy had triggered controversy.
The investigation team will be led by DySP Binu Kumar, and the team will start the investigation within two days, according to Manorama online.
The primary step of the investigation is to record the statements of the women who levelled allegations against the MLA, including Rini Ann George and transgender Avantika. The team will also meet the woman, who was heard arguing with Rahul in the audio clip, to ascertain whether she wants to move legally against the MLA. None of the complainants has filed a police complaint against Mamkootattil.
In the wake of the allegations that the audio clip was forged, the Crime Branch will reportedly rope in tech experts.
The Crime Branch registered a case on Wednesday against MLA Rahul Mankootathil regarding sexual harassment allegations. The case was registered suo motu (on its own accord) for stalking and harassing women. The State Police Chief had earlier instructed that the allegations raised against Rahul be investigated and a case be registered. The case has been registered under bailable sections.
‘Crush on Rahul Mamkootathil’
The Transgender Congress has made a new revelation regarding the sexual harassment allegation leveled by transgender woman Avanthika against Rahul Mankootathil. State General Secretary Anna said that Avanthika is being used in a political pawn to frame Rahul Mankootathil, and that it was Avanthika who had initiated the chat with Rahul.
“Avantika and Rahul were friends. They had sent messages to each other,” said Anna, adding that it was Avantika who initiated chatting with Rahul Mamkuttathil. Avantika initiated contact, and when things went wrong, she took advantage of Rahul. Avantika is now clueless about what to do. She even suggested putting up a post admitting her mistake,” Anna added.
