Media personality and actor Rini Ann George revealed that she has fallen prey to horrible cyber-lynching after levelling allegations of misbehaviour against a prominent young political leader in Kerala.
Rini Ann George told Malayalam media that she stands by what she had said and that he will not escape, no matter how brutally she is targeted on social media. If the cyber-attack against her intensifies, it will only damage the politician, Rini warned. She added that she was not planning to name the person as things stand, but the final decision will only be taken after thinking further.
According to Rini, after her comments were aired, several women reached out to her to share similar experiences with the same young political leader. She reportedly claimed that the man was a person with criminal intelligence. She accused the politician of sending obscene messages on social media. He resumed bothering her despite many warnings, and she didn't get any justice from the Congress leadership when she reached out for help, Rini had said. The leader had done it several times. When she responded harshly, he would stop sending such messages for a while but would restart after a while. When blocked, he would contact her from another means, vowing not to repeat it again.
"First, he will establish a friendship and start sending messages. Then, gradually, he will start sending obscene messages, and when he feels a little closer, he will call them to the cinema or a hotel. This is the approach towards women of a prominent young leader in Kerala," she had said. "Despite informing the party leadership about this, they continued to give him positions and honours," she had said.
Rini Ann George said she was unwilling to name the person out of love for the organisation and its top leaders.
Meanwhile, Kerala Youth Congress President Rahul Mamkootathil has been asked to step down from his official capacity over allegations of misbehaviour against women. The All India Congress Committee (AICC) received many complaints against Rahul, who was caught on a recording forcing a woman to abort her pregnancy. Rahul, who is the incumbent Palakkad MLA, will not be asked to resign immediately from the Legislative Assembly but will not be given a ticket in the upcoming polls, Kerala-based media reports said.
After his resignation rumours surfaced on Thursday, Rahul said he was a close friend of the actress and that he is confident that he was not the leader being mentined by her.
