Indian Army gave a befitting reply to Pakistani troops who violated the ceasefire along the Line of Control in Poonch, Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday. The violation comes on day when the nation is commemorating sixth anniversary of the abrogation of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir.
This is perhaps the first time Pakistan has violated the ceasefire along the LoC in the aftermath of Operation Sindoor. According to reports, Pakistani troops carried out unprovoked firing across LoC in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch sector. Indian troops responded effectively and gave a befitting reply, official sources in the know of the development said.
According to sources, the exchange of fire lasted for 15 minutes. However, no casualties have been reported. The violation comes after two months of peace along the LoC in the aftermath of Operation Sindoor ceasefire talks.
India launched Operation Sindoor on May 7 and destroyed nine terror bases along the LoC to avenge the Pahalgam terror attack. Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists with alleged Pakistani links killed 26 people in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam on April 22. The deceased include 24 tourists, a Nepali citizen and a local horse rider.
After days of heightened military activity, India and Pakistan agreed to stop firing on May 10. Director General of Military Operations (DGMOs) of both nations agreed to a ceasefire. Multiple rounds of talks were also held between military officers of both nations following the talks.
