A Delhi-Kolkata Air India flight on Monday was stopped midway through take-off from the Indira Gandhi International Airport—at which point it had reportedly reached a speed of 155km/h—following a technical snag that made it unsafe to do so.

Flight AI 2403 has been rescheduled to depart later this evening, an Air India spokesperson said, as per an ANI post on X.

The X post also stated that the cockpit crew's decision to abort take-off was in line with their Standard Operating Procedures. However, it did not clarify the nature of the technical issue.

"All passengers have disembarked and our ground colleagues in Delhi are extending support to them," the spokesperson added.

This is the second Air India incident today, after a Kochi-Mumbai Air India flight veered off the slick runway while landing at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) amid heavy rainfall. No injuries were reported among passengers or crew.

After the A320 aircraft skidded off the main runway (09/27), it ran into an unpaved area and then onto a taxiway. The runway has sustained minor damage, prompting the airport authorities to activate the secondary runway (14/32).

Air India has received nine show cause notices over the last six months, junior civil aviation minister Murlidhar Mohol told lawmakers on Monday, amid heightened scrutiny of the airline in the aftermath of the AI 171 crash that killed 260 people, as well as various smaller incidents that tookplace later on, stemming from technical issues.

The notices were related to five safety violations, Mohol added, without giving any details on the violations, a PTI report said.

"Enforcement action has been completed in respect of one violation," he said.
