In a veiled reference to the AIADMK-BJP alliance gearing up to challenge the DMK alliance in the ensuing 2026 assembly general elections, Chief Minister M.K. Stalin on Tuesday said that “no divisive saffron agenda from Delhi can divide the state until Tamil Nadu stands united".

Stalin’s stern voice against Delhi and the BJP leaders came in the presence of DMK’s alliance party leaders on the dais.

Unveiling the statue of former Congress leader L. Elayaperumal and launching the 'Ungaludan Stalin' scheme at Chidambaram, Stalin called for unity among the people of Tamil Nadu.

“On this stage, we see unity among leaders of the Dravidian movement following Periyar’s path, leaders of the Communist movement with Marxist ideology, leaders of the national movement in Gandhi’s path, and leaders of the Ambedkarite movement. This is Tamil Nadu, united as one," Stalin pointed out.

Speaking during the event, Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) leader Thol Thirumavalavan reiterated that his party would stand with the DMK alliance.

“One-fourth of the votes in the alliance in the ensuing 2026 elections will be from the VCK. We stand together as one, alone with chief minister Stalin. The Dravidian Model government led by him will continue,” he said.

With an idea to deliver government services to the people in their own locality, the government has organised atleast 10,000 special camps across the state, from July to November.

Over one lakh officers or volunteers will be involved in interacting and resolving issues concerning the general public, as a part of the programme.

Also, as per the programme, 43 services from 13 departments will be offered in urban areas, while 46 services from 15 departments will be offered in rural areas.

The scheme is an extension of the 'Mudhalvarin Mugavari' programme launched in 2021, through which over 1.05 crore petitions were received.

“Of these, 1.01 crore had been disposed of as of June 30 this year. Under the Makkaludan Mudhalvar programme, launched in 2023, 9.05 lakh petitions were received in urban areas and 12.81 lakh were received in rural areas. This special initiative aims to benefit those who are not in town or are unavailable or unaware of these camps,” explains Revenue Secretary P. Amudha.
