Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Thursday said that families of terror victims will be given government jobs, and he will personally hand over the appointment letters in the coming days.
He made the announcement while speaking at the ‘Bharat Sanrachna J&K 2025’ exhibition held in Srinagar. This move comes after his recent order to the police to reopen old cases where victims of terrorism were denied justice. He also directed the creation of a helpline for such families, so their concerns can be properly addressed.

During his speech, the LG warned divisive elements to stop spreading false and dangerous narratives. He said some people are making irresponsible statements that outsiders are spoiling Jammu and Kashmir’s culture, spreading alcoholism, and changing the region’s demography.
“These are the same lies spread by the terror group TRF (The Resistance Front) in the past to justify killings. Such talk has already led to the loss of many innocent lives,” he warned.
Sinha also pointed out that in the past, the SRO-43 scheme—meant to provide jobs to the families of terror victims—was misused. In some cases, those responsible for violence were given jobs instead of the victims' families. “This wrong will be corrected, and those who misused the scheme will be punished,” he said.
He assured that real victims will now get jobs at their homes. “I will hand over the appointment letters myself,” he added.
The LG also spoke about the progress made under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership. He said J&K’s economy has doubled in the last 5–6 years, and J&K Bank has gone from a loss of ₹1,300 crore to a profit of Rs 1,700 crore. Jammu and Kashmir has now become a major destination for investment and business.
Praising the ‘Bharat Sanrachna J&K 2025’ exhibition, he said it highlights government schemes, innovation, and opportunities. The three-day event includes live demonstrations, skill training, career sessions, and stalls by various central ministries. It aims to inspire young people and involve them in J&K’s development journey.
