Party at Air India SATS office days after plane crash; 4 officials sacked

Air India’s airport gateway services provider AISATS has ordered four of its senior employees to resign after they were found partying at their Gurugram office days after the catastrophic plane crash in Ahmedabad on June 12.

Videos of these officials partying at workplace reportedly on June 20 had gone viral on social media, drawing widespread public backlash.

In several such clips shared online, dozens of employees were seen shaking their legs to loud music with whistling and all-round revelry.

The celebrations inside the AISATS office were widely criticises as inappropriate as the affected families were still mourning the death of their beloved ones. 

AISATS is a joint venture between the Tata Group and Singapore’s  SATS Ltd.

The terminated employees included two senior vice presidents, the chief operating officer and a training head.

"At AISATS, we stand in solidarity with the families affected by the tragic loss of AI 171 and deeply regret the lapse in judgment reflected in a recent internal video,” an AISATS spokesperson said,

“The behaviour does not align with our values, and firm disciplinary action has been taken against those responsible as we reaffirm our commitment to empathy, professionalism, and accountability,” he added.

Air India's Boeing 787-8 aircraft AI-171 enroute to London Gatwick crashed into a medical hostel complex soon after takeoff from Ahmedabad on June 12, killing over 270 people, including 241 people who were onboard the plane.
