Reacting to the media on the tragedy outside Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar broke down and accused the opposition of politicising the incident.
"We must learn an administrative lesson, let the opposition do politics on dead bodies. I will list how many dead bodies they have done politics on. But it hurts to see the little children. I have seen their pain," ANI reported quoting Shivakumar. The deputy chief minister attended Royal Challengers Bengaluru's victory celebrations at Vidhan Soudha and at Chinnaswamy stadium, where stampede when people tried to enter the stadium premises through its gates on Wednesday.
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has ordered a magisterial probe over the incident and has sought a report within 15 days. On Wednesday, Siddaramaiah said they did not anticipate such a huge crowd would turn up for the event. 11 persons died and 33 persons suffered injuries in the incident.
Meanwhile, the opposition BJP lashed out at the Congress government and said the chief minister, deputy chief minister, and the home minister must resign taking responsibility for the incident.

Karnataka BJP president B.Y. Vijayendra also questioned the compensation amount announced by the state government. "They have announced only ₹10 lakh as compensation. When someone died due to an elephant attack in Kerala, you gave ₹25 lakh; then for the people of our state who lost their lives, ₹50 lakh compensation must be given. The RCB owners must also provide compensation," Vijayendra said.
Vijayendra charged the stampede broke out even before the RCB team left from the hotel for the celebrations. "Even when deaths and injuries were being reported, why did they continue with the celebrations? The deputy chief minister of the state went to the event at Chinnaswamy Stadium... At the time of the incident, ambulances were not arranged. The state government must take full responsibility for the incident," he charged.
