Char Dham Yatra: 75 per cent registrations to be online

Registration can be done by visiting registrationandtouristcare.uk.gov.in or by downloading the touristcareuttarakhand app

Chardham Yatra Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath, and Badrinath—the four Dhams as part of the Char Dham Yatra | Uttarakhand Tourism

Online registrations for the Char Dham Yatra have been increased by 15 per cent, thereby taking it up to 75 per cent, while just one fourth of the registrations will now be done offline.

This is in accordance with suggestions given by hoteliers, and to also make the Yatra more manageable.

Registration can be done by visiting registrationandtouristcare.uk.gov.in or by downloading the touristcareuttarakhand app.

In view of the expected influx of devotees, registration counters will be set up on the Char Dham Yatra route for each Dham. These counters will be functional in Gauchar for Badrinath, in Heena and Uttarkashi for Gangotri, Dham, in Dobata and Damta for Yamunotri and in the Garwhal Mandal Vikas Nigam Guest House in Guptkashi for Kedarnath.

The tag line for the Yatra this year is ‘Sugam, Sukhad aur Surakshit’ (Easy, Pleasant and Safe). Among the many steps taken to ensure that is a request sent out to famous people/dignitaries to not undertake the Yatra between May 2 and 31, when the crowds are expected to peak.

Aadhaar-based registration is mandatory and darshan will be allowed strictly and only for the date for which it has been booked.

Another initiative is to incorporate the prime minister’s message of ‘Aaj se thoda kum’ which asks for 10 per cent reduction in salt and sugar intake. The state government has asked restaurants and hotels to aim for healthy dishes.

In addition, the government is also heavily promoting other destinations to be combined with the Yatra. Some of these are Valley of Flowers, Auli, Harshil Valley and Devprayag. This is being tied into the government’s promotion of homestays, especially in the mountainous and border areas.

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has been aggressively promoting homestays as an axis of social and economic change. It is his bid to take tourism to every village by promoting the state’s cultural heritage and natural beauty.
