While budget sessions are progressing in state assemblies across the country, the Uttar Pradesh Assembly speaker has a unique, dirty trouble to deal with – pan masala stains in the house.
Uttar Pradesh Assembly Speaker Satish Mahana had to reprimand members of the house on Tuesday after pan masala stains were noticed in the assembly premises. The speaker immediately directed staff at the house to clean it immediately.
When the house convened, the assembly speaker did not mince his words and reprimanded house members sternly. Addressing the house, Mahana said, “This morning, I received information that in this hall of our Vidhan Sabha, some member has spit after consuming pan masala. So, I came here and got it cleaned.”
The speaker said he had spotted the legislator and advised him to confess to the crime. “I have seen the MLA in the video. But I do not want to humiliate any individual. So, I am not taking their name. I urge all members that if they see anyone doing this, they should stop them. Keeping this Assembly clean is our responsibility. If the MLA in question comes and tells me that they have done this, it will be good; otherwise, I will call them,” ANI reported.
