Congress leader Devender Yadav criticised the financial discrepancies of the former ruling dispensation of Delhi Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and described the CAG report in three words – loot (plunder), jhooth (lies) and phoot (division).

The AICC secretary and Delhi Congress chief further denounced the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) over the findings of the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) report. He pointed out that out of 14 reports, only one was presented.

In a press conference on Wednesday, Yadav said the report had been long awaited and was finally tabled in the Vidhan Sabha on Monday. He emphasised that the Congress had anticipated the irregularities highlighted in the report.

He recalled that on June 2, the state Congress committee had lodged a written complaint with the investigation agency regarding the matter. Additionally, former Delhi Congress chief Anil Chaudhary had met the police commissioner with evidence allegedly linking BJP leaders to the irregularities.

Yadav also demanded the swift formation of a Public Accounts Committee (PAC) to examine the recently tabled CAG report. He stressed that a time-bound investigation is necessary to ensure those responsible for financial irregularities are held accountable.

Yadav also highlighted the tradition of the PAC being chaired by the opposition leader, a practice he claimed is not followed in Delhi, where the ruling party leads it. He urged both the BJP and AAP to publicly discuss the report and any future findings to ensure transparency.

Congress leader Sandeep Dikshit, also addressing the press conference, said, "Many officials were saying that the matter got discussed because the policy was made due to the relations between the government and liquor contractors and their own interests. There should be a separate investigation in this matter.”

Yadav also asked why and who took the decision to change three excise directors within one year. "New brands of liquor were promoted in Delhi. This should be investigated. The then governor had given permission to implement the liquor policy of the Kejriwal government Why has no investigation been done on this till date?"
