Punjabi actress Sonia Mann on Sunday entered politics by joining the Aam Aadmi Party in the presence of AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal. She is the daughter of late Kirti Kisan Union leader Baldev Singh Mann.

Taking to Instagram, Sonia said she is proud to join AAP and vowed to work for Punjab and its people. "Today, I am proud to have joined the Aam Aadmi Party national convener Shri Arvind Kejriwal ji in the party. I am committed to work day and night for the prosperity and progress of Punjab and the people of Punjab," she posted.

Welcoming her, AAP Punjab unit wrote on X, "Kirti Kisan Union leader S Baldev Singh Ji's daughter and Punjabi actress Sonia Mann joined Aam Aadmi Party under the leadership of National Convener Arvind Kejriwal. She is very welcome in the Aam Aadmi Party family."

Who is Sonia Mann?

Punjabi actress and model Sonia Mann was born in Haldwani and raised in Amritsar. Her mother is Paramjit Kaur. Her father, Baldev Singh Mann, was killed by Khalistani terrorists on September 26, 1986 when he was returning to his village Bagga Kalan in Amritsar.

Sonia studied at Holy Heart Presidency School and graduated from BBK DAV College for Women, Amritsar.

Though a Punjabi, Sonia's film debut was in Malayalam. She first appeared in Hide n' Seek (2012) and Teens (2013), both Malayalam. She has acted Punjabi films Haani (2013) and Bade Changey Ne Mere Yaar Kaminey (2014). In 2014, she also appeared in Hindi film Kahin Hai Mera Pyar.

In 2015, she debuted in Telugu with Dhee Ante Dhee. In 2016, she was seen in two Punjabi movies Motor Mitraan Di and 25 Kille while in 2017, she returned to Telugu with Dr Chakravarthy and did a cameo in Marathi film Hrudayantar.
