The Mumbai police have nabbed two persons for allegedly threatening to blow up Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde’s car on Thursday. The duo were arrested from Buldhana district in Maharashtra.
According to police, the accused were identified as Mangesh Wayal (35) and Abhay Shingne (22), and both hail from Deulgaon Mahi locality in Deulgaon Raja in Buldhana. A probe is underway to ascertain the motive behind the threat, Mumbai police said.
Multiple police stations in Mumbai and the state headquarters, ‘Mantralaya’, received threats against Shinde on Thursday. The deputy chief minister was in Delhi on the day to attend the swearing-in ceremony of the new Bharatiya Janata Party government in Delhi and to attend a meeting of chief ministers of the National Democratic Alliance.
According to police, Police threat calls were received at Goregaon, J.J. Marg police stations and at the control room at the state government's headquarters. The Mumbai crime branch launched a probe and used technical analysis to track the culprits, police told PTI.

“A crime branch team visited Buldhana and nabbed two persons, suspected to be involved in the crime, with the help of the local police. Both are being brought to Mumbai,” a senior police official told PTI.
Police have registered an FIR at the Goregaon police station under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) sections 351(3) for criminal intimidation, and 353(2) for statements conducing to public mischief.
The threat against Shinde comes months after another senior politician, Baba Siddique, was murdered in Mumbai. The former minister was allegedly gunned down by the Lawrence Bishnoi gang.
