Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday held a high-level meeting in New Delhi to discuss the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir
The meeting followed a recent militant attack in Kulgam district, where an ex-Army man, Manzoor Ahmad Wagay, was killed, and his wife and niece were injured.
The security forces reacted to the killing by launching an operation and rounded up dozens for questioning and clues about the attackers.
The meeting was attended by key officials, including the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha, the Union Home Secretary, the Director of the Intelligence Bureau, the Chief Secretary, and the Director General of Police of Jammu and Kashmir, along with senior officials from the Ministry of Home Affairs and the local administration.

Yesterday, Shah held a significant review meeting focusing on security in the region, which was attended by the Chief of the Army Staff, General Upendra Dwivedi, and other senior officials from the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Army.
Shah told the meeting that the government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is committed to eliminating terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir.
He said that the government's ongoing efforts have significantly weakened the "terrorism ecosystem" in the area.
The home minister directed all security agencies to intensify their fight against terrorism, aiming for "zero infiltration". He urged them to take stronger actions against infiltration and terrorist activities, insisting that the objective should be to eliminate the presence of terrorists.
Shah also pointed out that drug trafficking networks are aiding infiltrators and terrorists. He stressed the need for quick and effective action against funding for terrorism that comes from the narcotics trade.
He instructed agencies to make new appointments in the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) to ensure the timely implementation of new criminal laws.
Shah said the Modi government has adopted a "zero tolerance" policy to achieve a terrorism-free Jammu and Kashmir. He advised all security agencies to remain alert and work together to combat terrorism in the region.
The home minister praised the efforts of security agencies, noting the significant improvement in various aspects of security in Jammu and Kashmir.
