A three-day drone show spectacle in the Sangam area will be yet another highlight of this Mahakumbh at Prayagraj.
On all three days, the drone show will be of different themes. On January 24, Uttar Pradesh Diwas will be celebrated with a focus on ‘Virasat’ and ‘Vikas’ (heritage and development). The next day’s highlight will be National Tourism Day, while on January 26, the show will focus on Republic Day – with a fair chunk of it revolving around the Constitution.
It must be noted that the state’s ruling Bharatiya Janata Party is currently running a Samvidhan Gaurav Abhiyan. The show will deploy 2,500 'Made in India' drones to illuminate the night skies above the Sangam nose – the area where the ritual bathing takes place.
One of the most arresting displays will be that of the Samudra Manthan – the epic churning of the sea when the 'Devas' and the 'Asurs' struggled to discover amrit (elixir).

Before the elixir was discovered, divine animals such as Kamdhenu – the divine cow that can fulfil all nutritional needs, and Airavat – the four-tusked elephant who was Indira’s ride emerged from the ocean. In addition, the Parijat tree – a fragrant product of Indra’s garden and Kalpavriksha – the wish-granting tree also emerged. But the most widely known of these yields was halahal – a poison so toxic that it could destroy the world. Shiv drank the poison and his throat turned blue giving him the name Neelkanth.
All these yields of the ocean will be depicted in the drone show, before the elixir will emerge. Drops from this elixir, contained in a kumbh (pitcher) fell on four places—Haridwar, Ujjain, Prayagraj and Nashik—where the Kumbh mela is held by rotation. During the shows, chants of Om will fill the mela area.
