Full list of winners in Bihar as Lok Sabha polls 2024 begins

Bihar is one of the most important Hindi heartland states, where the BJP successfully sidelined the once-powerful regional parties and established its dominance. The state has undergone a significant political transformation over the years with the recent Janata Dal (United)'s Nitish Kumar switch to National Democratic Alliance (NDA) last year.

The Lok Sabha elections 2024 is a litmus test for the BJP-JDU alliance. There are also rumours that Bihar CM may resign and join hands with Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD)'s Tejashwi Yadav and Congress in the state. However, with the current situation, the BJP aims to sweep all 40 seats.

Political analysts and INDI alliance leaders believe that Nitish Kumar's frequent shifts in allegiance are going to harm the party as well as his reputation.

In the 2019 general elections, the BJP secured 17 seats, while JD(U), won 16 seats, paving the way for the NDA to dominate with 39 out of 40 seats in Bihar. The Congress managed to win just one seat, and the RJD failed to secure any. This in turn boosted BJP's confidence in the Lok Sabha elections 2024.

The election is crucial for Congress as the party needs to prove its relevance. While for RJD, this election is all about making a national comeback and setting the stage for the 2025 state assembly elections.
