As the second phase of the Lok Sabha election gets underway, two-time BJP MP Jugal Kishore Sharma is locking horns with Congress candidate Raman Bhalla in Jammu.

The constituency has over 17.80 lakh registered voters, and the turnout is expected to be high after a high-intensity campaign by both camps.

Sharma focused on Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership during the campaign while Bhalla highlighted his past work in Jammu. After delimitation, the constituency's boundaries have changed, and it now includes areas that observers believe will help the BJP.

The constituency has 10,498 registered Persons with Disability (PWD) and 666 voters over the age of 100. It comprises 11 Assembly segments of Jammu district, three of Samba district, three of Reasi district, and one of Rajouri district.

The Election Commission has set up 2,416 polling stations to ensure smooth polling, with over 15,000 polling staff deployed. Special arrangements, such as Assured Minimum Facilities (AMF) and separate queues for senior citizens and specially-abled persons, have been made.

The Voter Turnout App will display estimated provisional voter turnout details, and around 1,454 polling stations will have CCTV cameras for live webcasting.

The fight in Jammu between the BJP and the Congress comes after the Udhampur Lok Sabha constituency witnessed a tough fight between Dr. Jitender Singh, who won the last two elections from Udhampur, against Chaudhary Lal Singh of the Congress. Chaudhary, also a two-time former MP, was fielded by the Congress after he rejoined the party in March.
