Hours after going missing from their homes on Mumbai's Antop Hill, two kids were found dead inside a car on Wednesday. The police suspect that the two children aged seven and five died due to suffocation.

The two kids were identified as Sajid Mohammed Shaikh (7) and Muskan Mohabbat Shaikh (5). The investigation team found that the car in which the kids lost their lives was locked from inside. They were unable to unlock them and get out in time, an official was quoted as saying by news agency PTI.

The lifeless bodies of the kids were discovered in the evening, sometime after they stepped out of their homes to play. When Sajid and Muskan didn't return, the families started looking for them. The worried family even lodged a missing complaint at the Antop Hill police station, the official told PTI.

It was not hours after the search initiatives began that an onlooker finally found the children lying unconscious inside the car. The vehicle doors were opened and the minors were rushed to the hospital. But it was too late by then as the doctors declared them dead, the official said.

Police are examining footage of CCTV cameras installed in the area and probing all possible angles, he said, adding that an accidental death case has been registered for now.
