The INDIA bloc's mega 'Ulgulan Nyay rally will be held in Ranchi on Sunday and will be attended by leaders from 14 political parties, including Mallikarjun Kharge, Rahul Gandhi, Lalu Prasad, Farooq Abdullah, Akhilesh Yadav, and Sunita Kejriwal, wife of Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal.

The rally is being touted as an event to expose the central government's "dictatorial" approach. Five lakh people from across the state are also expected to take part in it.

Jharkhand Chief Minister Champai Soren said it would be a historic event. "We need to stop the dictatorship and save our democracy and the constitution. Everyone knows what happened in Jharkhand and Delhi. We will expose the dictatorial approach of the Centre at the mega rally," Soren told reporters on Saturday.

"From the dais of Ulgulan rally, we will tell the people of the country about the dictatorship of the Centre," he said.

Ranchi's Prabhat Tara ground, which hosts the event, was decked up for the rally on Sunday with posters of INDIA bloc leaders, including Congress Parliamentary Party Chairperson Sonia Gandhi, party MP Rahul Gandhi, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal, West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee. The posters of former Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren and his wife Kalpana Soren were also seen at the venue.

Meanwhile, CPI (Marxist) general secretary Sitaram Yechury on Saturday wrote to former Jharkhand chief minister Hemant Soren's wife Kalpana Soren that he will not be able to attend the rally as he is busy with the election campaign in Kerala. "Unfortunately, I am in the midst of the election campaign in Kerala, where voting is scheduled for April 26. You are surely aware of the importance of Kerala for the CPI (M)," he wrote in the letter.

Besides Sunita Kejriwal, AAP leader Sanjay Singh, TMC's Derek O'Brien, Shiv Sena's Priyanka Chaturvedi and Dipankar Bhattacharya from CPI (ML) and others will also participate in the rally.

The mega rally comes as Congress claimed that the INDIA bloc is far ahead of the BJP and an undercurrent in favour of the coalition is gaining strength.

Meanwhile, the BJP has hit out at the rally. State BJP president Babulal Marandi said all those who were against development and Sanatan Dharma were gathering here. "Jharkhand would not have been created if there was no BJP government at the Centre. Former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee created the state on November 15, 2000, after the formation of the BJP-led NDA government in 1999. Only BJP and NDA understood the feelings and sentiments of the tribals and Jharkhand," he said.
