Congress leader Gourav Vallabh resigned from all party posts and his primary membership with the party on Thursday. In the resignation letter shared on social media, Vallabh said the Congress party is directionless and he can’t abuse wealth creators of the country.

Tweeting his resignation letter, Vallabh said, “I am not feeling comfortable with the directionless way in which the Congress Party is moving forward today. I can neither raise anti-Sanatan slogans nor abuse the wealth creators of the country in the morning and evening. That is why I am resigning from all posts and primary membership of Congress Party.” In the letter, Vallabh said, “When I joined Congress, I believed that Congress is the oldest party in the country which respects youth and intellectual people and their ideas. But for some time, I felt that the party was not able to adjust with the youth having new ideas."

Vallabh told ANI, “I was hurt by the silence of the Congress Party when some big leaders of the Alliance opposed Sanatana and the party's stand on Ram Mandir. In our country, the Congress party abuses the country's wealth creators day and night. I was clear about these things, and raised this matter at many places on the party platforms as well.”

Vallabh charged the party is completely cut off from the ground and is unable to understand the aspirations of a new India. “Due to this”, he added, “The party is neither coming to power nor is able to play the role of a strong opposition.” Vallabh said he was also upset with the party staying away from Ram Mandir 'Pran Pratishtha' programme in Ayodhya.

Vallabh’s resignation comes a day after former Mumbai Congress Chief Sanjay Nirupam was expelled from the party. However, Nirupam claimed the party took action against him after he resigned from primary membership of the party.
