Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who is in the custody of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with the Delhi excise policy case, has issued his first order since his arrest. This comes as the AAP insists the chief minister will not resign and will run the state from prison.

Kejriwal issued the order to the Water Department through a note, ANI quoted sources. It is said that Minister Atishi will hold a press conference on the same later on Sunday.

Arvind Kejriwal's wife Sunita Kejriwal on Saturday evening met him at the ED office where he is lodged under custody. Sunita Kejriwal met her husband at the ED office at A P J Abdul Kalam Road and was seen holding papers as she entered the ED office with some staff.

According to Kejriwal's lawyer, the special Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) Court had allowed Sunita Kejriwal and Bibhav Kumar (Kejriwal's assistant) to meet him every day for half an hour between 6-7 pm, apart from his lawyers.

Meanwhile, the AAP is planning a candlelight march and effigy burning across Delhi on Sunday in protest against the BJP in connection with Kejriwal's arrest.

A statement issued by the AAP on Saturday read: "There will be a candle march and effigy burning across Delhi tomorrow in protest against the dictatorship of the BJP and the fake arrest of Arvind Kejriwal. Now, the people of Delhi have come out on the streets in protest against the arrest of CM Arvind Kejriwal. We all have to stand together as the shield of Arvind Kejriwal. The arrest of Arvind Kejriwal will prove to be the last nail to oust the Modi government from power."

Security has been tightened in the nation's capital ahead of the march. "We got information that workers and leaders of AAP will hold a protest. To ensure a law and order situation, we have stepped up security in the national capital. We will ensure the deployment of paramilitary forces along with Delhi Police personnel. Senior officers will continue to monitor the entire situation in their districts. Directions have been issued to the SHOs to keep a strict vigil in their area and to inform their senior officers immediately if they get to know about any protest," a senior police officer said.

The police have put up multi-layer barricading on roads leading to the BJP headquarters, ITO, and in front of the ED office where AAP members are expected to gather to protest. Paramilitary personnel, equipped with anti-riot gear, have also been stationed to ensure law and order.
