The State Bank of India filed a compliance affidavit in the electoral bonds case on Wednesday, two days after the Supreme Court rejected the bank's plea for more time to disclose the details of the bonds.

This comes after the apex court had told SBI that the bank does not have to match names of electoral bond buyers with specific political parties. The deadline set by the court ended at 5 pm on Tuesday.

In the Wednesday affidavit filed by SBI Chairman Dinesh Kumar Khara in the top court, SBI said it submitted details of electoral bonds purchased and redeemed from April 14, 2019 to February 15, 2024, to the election panel before the close of business hours on March 12. These included details of date of purchase and encashment of electoral bonds, the names of political parties that received the donations and names of purchasers and their denominations have been furnished to the Election Commission.

The data was compiled in two password-protected PDF files and was handed over in a pen drive while the passwords were submitted in an envelope.

A total of 22,217 electoral bonds were purchased and 22,030 of them were redeemed by political parties.

Between April 1 and 11, 2019, a total of 3,346 electoral bonds were purchased and 1,609 of them redeemed. From April 12, 2019 to February 15, 2024, a total of 18,871 electoral bonds were purchased and 20,421 were redeemed.
