The Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Thursday won the trust vote after a motion was filed in the Delhi assembly.

Fifty-four of the 62 AAP MLAs were present during the voting and the Assembly passed the motion of confidence through a voice vote.

Pointing out at the absence of some of the AAP lawmakers, Kejriwal, who is the party convenor, asserted that no MLA has defected his party. He said two of the MLAs are in prison while others are unwell or out of station.

During a discussion on the motion of confidence he moved in the Budget session of the assembly, Kejriwal said the AAP is the biggest challenger to the BJP and that is why it is under attack from all sides. He claimed that AAP will "liberate" country from BJP in 2029 Lok Sabha elections.

Kejriwal said many of his MLAs were contacted by alleged "BJP people" who offered them money to switch sides. Pointing out that the BJP thought it could finish the AAP by arresting him, the Delhi CM said, "You may arrest me but how will you finish Kejriwal's thoughts?"

"They claim to be Ram bhakt but they stopped medicines for the poor people in our hospitals. Did Lord Ram ask for stopping medicines for the poor people?" he said.
