Dense fog in Delhi, affects flights and train operations

Flight and train operations to the national capital have been affected as dense fog blanketed the national capital on Tuesday.

 The Indian Meteorological Department has predicted dense fog in some parts of Punjab, Delhi, Bihar; in isolated pockets of Madhya Pradesh, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal; moderate fog in isolated pockets of Jharkhand.  The temperature in Delhi on Tuesday morning was 6.9 degrees Celsius. IMD had forecasted minimum temperature to be 7 degrees Celsius and maximum of 18 degrees Celsius. 

ANI reported that several flights were delayed at the Indira Gandhi International Airport and as many as 28 Delhi-bound trains faced delays ranging from two to five hours. 

Delhi’s air quality continues to be very poor in the national capital. At 11am, the Central Pollution Control Board recorded AQI of 373 in Delhi.

An AQI between zero and 50 is considered "good", 51 and 100 "satisfactory", 101 and 200 "moderate", 201 and 300 "poor", 301 and 400 "very poor", and 401 and 500 "severe".
