Both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha have been adjourned following protests by Opposition members demanding an explanation from the government on the Parliament security breach.
As both houses convened for the day, MPs from Opposition parties protested seeking an explanation from the government and Union Home Minister Amit Shah regarding the security lapse on December 13. However, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla urged Opposition members to cooperate with house proceedings.
Speaker said, “It is sad that politics is being done on this issue. To enter the Well of the House and sloganeering is against the dignity of the House. I request your (opposition) cooperation to hold discussions on important issues," ANI reported.
Similarly in Rajya Sabha, Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar adjourned the House over Opposition’s protests.
At about 1pm on December 13, when the Zero Hour was in progress in the Lok Sabha, Sagar Sharma and Manoranjan.D jumped down from the visitors’ gallery onto the floor of the House and sprayed coloured smoke canisters. At the same time, just outside the Parliament complex, Amol Shinde and Neelam Devi sprayed more coloured smoke.
