Madhya Pradesh: Three Congress leaders join BJP in Scindia’s presence ahead of Assembly polls

Move comes amidst protests in both parties by discontent aspirants

 Three Congress leaders joined the Bharatiya Janata Party in the presence of Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia on Tuesday. The Congress leaders’ move comes amidst protests in both BJP and Congress camps by supporters of discontent party members who weren’t given tickets in the upcoming  Assembly elections.

Three Congress members - Asha Dohre, who was a strong contender for Congress ticket to contest from Ashoknagar district, councillor Anita Jain and sector president Vikas Jain reached Jai Palace in Gwalior and joined BJP in the presence of Scindia. Former Shivpuri city president Rakesh Jain also joined the BJP. 

Talking to presspersons, Scindia said, "I have had a familial and historical relation with both of these, Anita and Rakesh. I'm not in politics, I'm involved in 'Jan Sewa'. For some reason, they were not with us. Today, they joined us back, we welcome them in BJP.” 

Recently, supporters of discontent party leaders who weren’t given seats in both parties protested outside the residences and offices of respective party leaders. Protests also happened outside Jai Palace, the residence of Scindia and the union minister stepped out to pacify the protesters. 

Supporters of BJP leader Munnalal Goyal, a loyalist of Scindia protested outside Jai Vilas Palace on Sunday after Goyal was denied a ticket.

 Scindia, to pacify the protesters drove to the palace gate and asserted he stood by them and Goyal.
