Trinamool Congress on Saturday accused BJP of hatching conspiracy against Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee-led West Bengal government. In a statement, TMC said that the Amit Shah's claims of "toppling the goverment" was concerning.

While addressing the rally at Birbhum in West Bengal on Friday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah urged the people of Bengal to give BJP more than 35 seats. He also praised the leader of the opposition, Suvendu Adhikari and his fight against Bengal government's alleged corruption.

"Amit Shah made a flimsy declaration that if the BJP would get 35 seats from Bengal in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, he would topple the democratically-elected Bengal government in 2025. Shah's claims of toppling the government are concerning. Being the Home Minister of the country, he has accepted that a conspiracy is being hatched against Bengal," TMC said in a statement.

TMC also termed Shah's rally in Birbhum a "flop show".

"He (Shah) can dream of winning 35 seats, just like bagging 200 plus seats in the 2021 Assembly polls. No one in Bengal or in Birbhum gave importance to his meeting...This time, BJP will struggle to even get one seat in the Lok Sabha elections," TMC spokesperson Kunal Ghosh was quoted by The Indian Express.

Shah has raised the issue of violence, and infiltration in the state claiming that once BJP comes to power there would not be any such crimes.

"The only way to remove the misrule is BJP. Bengal has to be freed from terror...Just make the Lotus bloom once in Bengal and there will be no bomb blasts and no one would dare to attack on Ram Navami processions here...The only way to get rid of the kind of corruption in Bengal is also BJP," said Shah.

Hitting back at Shah, TMC said that he (Shah) chose to remain silent as to why BJP workers were brandishing guns and swords at these Ram Navami rallies.
