Spine-chilling details of a gruesome murder are emerging from Tamil Nadu where a 39-year-old woman allegedly killed her lover, chopped his body into pieces and dumped them on the outskirts of Chennai city. The case bears a striking resemblance to the recent Shraddha Walker murder in Delhi.

According to reports, the victim has been identified as M. Jeyanthan (29), a ground staff member with Thai Airways at Chennai International Airport. Jeyanthan had gone missing on March 18 and the Chennai police registered an FIR and launched a manhunt for him based on a complaint filed by his sister P. Jeyakruba, reported the New Indian Express.

Jeyakruba is a lawyer in the Madras High Court.

After examining Jeyanthan's call recordings and other evidence, the investigators found that he was in a relationship with G. Bakkiyalakshmi, who hails from Pudukkottai. During the interrogation, she confessed to the crime.

According to police, Bakkiyalakshmi is a sex worker and Jeyanthan was her customer. The duo developed a relationship and got married in 2020 without the knowledge of his family. They, however, got separated in 2021.

Bakkiyalakshmi told police that she killed Jeyanthan on March 18 when he had come to Pudukkotai to meet her. She allegedly severed his body into pieces and packed them in a plastic bag. Later she travelled to Chennai where she dumped them in Kovalam, a southern suburb of the city. 

Police said three men who allegedly helped her to commit the crime and dump the body are still absconding.

In a similar case in Delhi last year, Aftab Ameen Poonawala killed his live-in partner Shraddha Walker, chopped her body into over 35 pieces, kept them in a refrigerator for three weeks before dumping them in a forest area in south Delhi.
