Visakhapatnam will be new capital of Andhra Pradesh says CM Jagan Mohan Reddy

I will also be shifting to Vizag: CM

Andhra Pradesh CM Jagan Mohan Reddy has announced that Visakhapatnam will be the new capital of the state. Speaking at the International Diplomatic Alliance Meet in New Delhi, Reddy said, “I am here to invite you to Visakhapatnam, which will be our capital. I will also be shifting to Vizag.”

“I invite you and your colleagues to see for yourself how easy it is to do business in Andhra Pradesh.” "Approvals are deemed given within 21 days. That itself would show you how swift and fast we are. There are many industrial clusters, including 4 clusters of electronic and manufacturing. Toy, food processing, textile, parks, cement, medical devices manufacturing, automobile, pharma clusters,” he added.

The state's governor will also reside there. The legislature will however function from Amaravati. Reddy, who had earlier said that the state's future was in decentralised development, said the high court would be moved to Kurnool.

Reddy said he believes that distributing the seats of the executive, legislative and judicial functions across the state will spur equitable regional development.

The state of Andhra Pradesh was divided into two states-- Andhra Pradesh and Telangana on June 2, 2014.
