A police van carrying Aftab Amin poonawala, accused in the brutal murder of his live-in partner Shraddha Walker, was attacked by a group of sword-wielding people on Monday evening. The incident took place outside the the Forensic Science Laboratory in Rohini where Aftab underwent a pending session of his polygraph test.
According to ANI, the attackers claimed they are members of the Hindu Sena. Police have detained at least two members of the gang and seized the weapons.
Aftab is safe and the vehicle was driven out of the spot.
More details are awaited.
Aftab allegedly strangled Shraddha and chopped her body into over 35 pieces, which he kept in a 300-litre fridge for almost three weeks at his Mehrauli residence in South Delhi, before dumping them in different parts of a forest area over the next several days.
Though the murder allegedly took place on May 17, the bone chilling details of the crime started trickling out after November 12 following Aftab's arrest by the Delhi Police.
A Delhi court initially sent him to five-day police custody which was further extended by five days on November 17. On Tuesday, he was sent to four more days of police custody. On Saturday, the court sent him to judicial custody for 13 days.
