As fresh details of the murder of 26-year-old Shraddha Walkar emerge every day, a lawyer has moved a plea in the Delhi High Court seeking transfer of the probe to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). In the plea, the lawyer stated that the Delhi Police cannot efficiently carry out a probe in this case due to staff shortage, as well as the lack of sufficient technical and scientific equipment to find out evidence.

Shraddha was allegedly killed by her partner Aftab Amin Poonawala on May 18. Aftab chopped her body into multiple pieces and disposed of them in different parts of the city. The police have so far recovered 13 body parts, which are mostly skeletal remains. Aftab is currently being taken to different locations in south Delhi to locate more body parts. The Delhi Police has also sent teams to Maharashtra, Haryana and Himachal Pradesh to hunt for evidence in the case.

The plea also stated that sensitive details of the crime have been revealed to the public through the media, adding that the Delhi Police have not sealed the alleged place of the incident till date. It further stated that the forensic evidence in the case have not been preserved properly by the Delhi Police and the alleged recoveries are being accessed by different public persons.

The probe team has not yet recovered the murder weapon or clothes Shraddha and Aftab were wearing on the day of the crime. Aftab, who has reportedly been changing his statements, is expected to undergo narco analysis on Monday. The court had granted permission to subject Aftab to the test to help gather evidence.

According to reports, before Aftab undergoes a narco test, he will have to be certified as emotionally, physically, mentally and psychologically fit for the test by a team of doctors, adding that if he is found unfit on any parameter, the test will not be carried out.
