National Security Advisor Ajit Doval will hold an inter-faith meeting on Saturday, according to reports. The conference, attended by heads of different religious faiths, is part of the Narendra Modi government's outreach to maintain inter-faith harmony, Hindustan Times stated in a report.
Hazrath Syed Naseeruddin Chishty, chairperson of the All India Sufi Sajjada Nasheen Council, will be the key attendee. The conference comes in the wake of hate killings in Udaipur and Amaravati triggered by Nupur Sharma's controversial comments on the Prophet.
A similar inter-faith meet was held by Doval in 2019 also after the landmark Supreme Court verdict in the Ayodhya case. The meet was attended by eminent Hindu and Muslim religious leaders who pledged support to the government in all steps to maintain peace and order after the verdict.
