Aaditya Thackeray, Maharashtra cabinet minister and son of CM Uddhav Thackeray challenged the rebel group to resign and face elections.
Addressing party cadres, Thackeray said "If you have guts, leave Shiv Sena - defect and fight. He added that if they think Uddhav Thackeray's leadership is wrong, then resign and face elections. “We are ready," he said. Thackeray said that the road to Vidhan Bhavan goes via Worli. He added that there is no place for traitors in the party and it was good that they left. There is no room for traitors in the party, he said.
Thackeray said that the doors of the party are open for those who wish to return. He criticised the rebels for camping in Guwahati when the State is severely affected by floods.
Meanwhile, The dissidents have named their group as 'Shiv Sena (Balasaheb).' The Centre has provided families of 15 rebel legislators with Y+ category security. Officials said the security has been sanctioned to the legislators following a recommendation made by central security agencies to the Ministry of Home Affairs, stating they and their families faced potential threats to their physical security owing to the current political scenario in Maharashtra.
