Pakistan national among two terrorists killed in Kashmir encounter

Encounter breaks out in Kulgam during a search operation

Two Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) terrorists, including a Pakistani national, were killed in an encounter with security forces in Kulgam district of Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday.

According to police, the encounter broke out in Mirhama area in the evening when the forces were carrying out a cordon and search operation following inputs about the presence of militants there.

The hiding militants fired at the forces and in the ensuing encounter two ultras were killed, police said.

"One #Pakistani #terrorist of proscribed #terror outfit JeM killed. #Operation in progress," Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kashmir, Vijay Kumar wrote on Twitter.

According to reports, the encounter is still under way in the area.

The encounter took place on the eve of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to the Union Territory to participate in the celebration of National Panchayati Raj Day on Sunday.

On Friday, two terrorists and a CRPF soldier were killed in a gunfight that took place near an Army camp at Sunjwan in Jammu on Friday. Nine security personnel were also injured as forces engaged the terrorists after they attacked a bus carrying CISF personnel.
