Priyanka Maurya, the face of the Congress 'Ladki Hoon Lad Sakti Hoon' campaign has joined the Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP). It was Maurya’s face that smiled on the publicity material for the Congress campaign initiated by the general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra. The pink posters of the campaign had six women on them; Maurya’s was the most prominent.

Maurya was welcomed into the BJP by deputy chief minister Keshav Prasad Maurya. When the press conference was happening, Maurya’s Twitter bio read: 170, Sarojininagar Vidhan Sabha, Lucknow. Vice President Mahila Congress (UPC), General Secretary, IYC, doctor and social activist.

Maurya has criticised the manner in which the marathon (part of the Congress campaign) was held. "The girls were fainting, there was not even any refreshment. There is misappropriation even in the prizes," she said. "Those who are criticising me for my reaction because I have not been given a ticket, I want to tell them that I am preparing for the 2024 elections."

Maurya had posted: “No one can fall lower than the middlemen of the Congress."

She had said that the campaign was a fraud because, despite being a deserving candidate, she had not been given the ticket because she was unable to pay. “Congress used me for their own benefit; they had already decided to give the ticket to someone else who would pay a bribe to them”, she said.
