Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on Friday, praised the country for crossing the milestone of 100 crore COVID-19 vaccinations. "This is not just a number, it is a beginning of a new chapter, a new India,” said PM Modi. He added that the milestone is an answer to those criticising India’s vaccine drive.

Modi also said that the government has ensured that VIP culture does not overshadow the vaccination programme and that everyone is treated equally. The country, he said, had only one mantra— that if the disease does not discriminate, then there cannot be any discrimination in the vaccination process.

The PM said that the milestone proved that India has defeated vaccine hesitancy, while many countries are struggling with the same. He said: “World nations are still battling vaccine hesitancy while similar concerns were raised in India. But the 100-crore vaccine dose achievement shows how we have defeated the vaccine hesitancy. With the trust in science and innovations, India has managed to achieve this major feat.”
