Seven people have been killed in a car accident in the Koramangala area of Bengaluru early on Tuesday. The dead include Karuna Sagar, the son of Y. Prakash, the DMK MLA representing Hosur constituency in Tamil Nadu. Hosur lies on the border with Bengaluru.
The victims were travelling in a Audi Q3 SUV when it lost control and barged into a building.
The News Minute reported the vehicle went into a footpath and hit a streetlight before careening into a branch of Punjab National Bank on 80 Feet Road. The accident occurred between 1am and 1.45am. The victims were identified as Karuna Sagar (30), Bindu (28), Ishita (21), Utsav (23 from Haryana), Akshay Goyal (23 from Kerala), Dr Dhanusha (21) and Rohit (23 from Hubbali). Some reports have said Bindu was the wife of Sagar, but this is yet to be confirmed. All the victims were staying as paying guests in Bengaluru.

The police said none of the victims were wearing seatbelts due to which the car's airbags failed to deploy. B.R. Ravikanthe Gowda, the Joint Commissioner of Police of Traffic of Bengaluru Police, noted the accident was caused by negligent driving and over-speeding. Adugodi Police have filed a case of negligent driving and over-speeding.
