The Central Board of Secondary Education will conduct class 10 and class 12 exams for candidates in ‘private’ category between August 16 and September 15, the Board announced on Wednesday.

It said the results of private students cannot be declared on the basis of an alternative assessment policy. The board, however, said the results will be declared in the minimum possible time to avoid any difficulty to them in admission to higher education.

“Results of private candidates cannot be prepared without conducting exams as neither schools nor board has assessment records,” the Board said.

The CBSE in a press statement clarified that regular students are those studying in CBSE-affiliated schools and appearing the class 10 or class 12 exams for the first time. For regular students, the CBSE will declare results based on the alternative assessment policy approved by the Supreme Court.

The private students are those who were regular students in CBSE schools earlier but failed to clear the exam in the first or the second attempt or those who want to sit for improvement.
