KPCC chief D.K. Shivakumar has once again embarrassed himself and the Congress party by losing his cool in public. Shivakumar, who has snatched the mobile phones of his supporters and thrown them while trying to click selfies with him,  shocked everyone this time by slapping a party worker in Mandya for coming "too close" to the leader.

On Saturday, Shivakumar, who was in Mandya to visit an ailing farmer leader and veteran politician G. Madegowda (94), suddenly slapped a party worker on his head after the latter tried to get too close to the Congress leader and place his hands on Shivakumar's shoulder. While the incident shocked the party workers walking alongside the leader, Shivakumar asked the party worker if it was the right behaviour.

"If I give you little freedom, you take the liberty to put your hands around me and on my shoulder. You are all my boys but this behaviour is not acceptable," said Shivakumar, who also asked that the recording of the incident be deleted. However, the video went viral on social media evoking a strong response against the politician and his frequent outbursts in public.

Karnataka BJP in a series of tweets condemned Shivakumar stating it was unbecoming of a state president of a national party to assault someone in public.

"It is unpardonable. Is Shivakumar still reminiscing his days in the company of Rowdy Kothwal," taunted the BJP, also recalling the past incidents where Shivakumar had thrown the mobile phones of supporters who came to click selfies with him.

"Such behaviour in public shows his violent mindset. He has done it in the past too. He had threatened to kick out people who dared to intervene when he was speaking. Is DKS a politician or a rowdy?  Is he aspiring to be a brand ambassador for 'hodi-badi' (violent) politics? Hitting, kicking and throwing out people are traits of a rowdy not a leader. If a partyworker can be treated so badly, imagine what would happen to the common man if he goes to Shivakumar seeking help," said BJP adding the Congress leader was losing his cool frequently.

The BJP also advised Shivakumar to give up public life, if he could not give up the "underworld-like" behaviour.
