Two Pakistani terrorists killed in J&K encounter; two soldiers martyred

Two Pakistani terrorists were killed in an encounter with security forces along the Line of Control (LoC) on Thursday, a defence spokesperson said in Jammu. Two Indian soldiers were also martyred in the encounter that took place in Dadal forest area of Sundarbani Sector in Rajauri district.

According to the spokesperson, two AK-47 rifles and ammunition in heavy quantity have been recovered from the terrorists.

He said the forces were conducting a search operation in the area based on information about the presence of terrorists, when the encounter broke out.

“Based on information regarding infiltration and movement of terrorists in the area of Dadal, Sundarbani Sector, the Army had launched extensive search operations with effect from June 29, 2021,” he said. Subsequently, the information was corroborated on July 8 and a search and destroy patrol seeking proactive engagement with the terrorists, spotted them at Dadal forest and challenged them, he added.

"The terrorists opened fire and lobbed hand grenades, leading to a fierce encounter in which two foreign terrorists from Pakistan have been killed. In the operation, two jawans received fatal injuries. A detailed search of the area continues," he further said.

The soldiers who were killed in the exchange of fire were identified as Nb Sub Sreejith M. and Sep Maruprolu Jaswanth Reddy.

On Wednesday, a Hizbul Mujahideen terrorist, Mehrazuddin Halwai, was killed in an encounter with security forces.
