In video message, Mamata Banerjee urges supporters to maintain peace

She said that she will be back for poll campaign in a few days

A day after West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee was allegedly attacked in Nandigram, she released a video message from the hospital, urging people and party workers maintain peace exercise restraint. She also said that she will be back for poll campaign in a few days and use wheelchair if needed.

According to the doctors, Banerjee is presently undergoing treatment at the SSKM hospital in Kolkata with injury to her left leg, waist, shoulder, and neck. The TMC supremo alleged on Wednesday evening that during her campaign in Nandigram, she was attacked by four-five men who pushed her, besides banging on her the door of her car, leading to the injuries.

While TMC and Mamata alleged it was a planned attack, the BJP called it “drama”, saying it was an attempt by the chief minister to gain sympathy from voters. Representatives of the TMC and the opposition BJP will be meeting Election Commission officials.
