Even as former Madhya Pradesh chief minister Kamal Nath attacked the BJP-led Central government's approach to the farmers' stir, state Home Minister Narottam Mishra called the protest “an experiment by the tukde-tukde gang”. Kamal Nath equated the government's action against protesting farmers to that of general Dyer (who ordered the Jallianwala Bagh firing in 1919).

Kamal Nath tweeted on Wednesday that “those who are oppressing farmers should remember that 102 years ago, general Dyer had unleashed tyranny on farmers in the same Punjab and Haryana. Their communication means was cut off and Mahatma Gandhi who was on way to meet them was detained in Palwal.”

“After this, the spark turned into a national movement, and a massive non-cooperation movement started. The farmers who can fell the biggest kingdom (Britain) can blow away today’s dictatorship like a straw,” Kamal Nath added.

Mishra, meanwhile, said that the Central government has kept the options of discussion with farmers open. “But Rahul Gandhi is trying to impede the talks from behind the curtains. Actually shedding crocodile tears in the name of farmers’ protest has become a compulsion for the Congress that is fighting to save its existence,” he said.

The Madhya Pradesh home minister also added that the farmers’ protest “is not a people’s movement but an experiment of the 'tukde-tukde' gang, which, if successful, can open the way for the gang to put pressure on the government on issues like Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA), (abolition of) Article 370 and Ram Temple”. “The protests are being held on imaginary grounds just like CAA protests and no one has been able to articulate what is wrong with the new farm laws,” Mishra said.

Digvijaya supports Swamy on fuel price hike

Meanwhile, Rajya Sabha member Digivijaya Singh took a jibe at the Central government on fuel prices' hike as he shared a meme tweeted by BJP MP Subramanian Swamy. In an obvious attack on rising fuel prices, the meme tweeted by Swamy said that “petrol (price was) Rs 93 in Ram’s India, Rs 53 in Sita’s Nepal and Rs 51 in Ravan’s Lanka”. Sharing this, Singh commented “you are correct Swamy ji. This is ghor kaliyuga”.
