"The BSP cannot contest with the communal party," he said

Just days after declaring that she would even ally with the BJP to defeat the Samajwadi Party, the Bahujan Samaj Party chief Mayawati said that her possible alliance with the ruling party was a rumour. However, she reiterated her commitment to vote for the BJP if that is what it took to defeat the SP. Mayawati, who had, in the recent Rajya Sabha polls in the state on October 29, said that she was not averse to the idea of coming together with the BJP today told the media that this was mere speculation. She blamed the SP and the Congress for spreading rumours that she was allying with the BJP.

“They do not want that Muslims to vote for us”, said the former UP chief minister. This was in reference to the assembly bypolls in the state to be held on November 3. “The BJP is using the CBI and the ED to harass me”, she added. In the Vidhan Sabha polls of 2017, the BSP and the SP had come together but the alliance did not do well, after which Mayawati had unilaterally announced its end.

On Monday she reiterated her stand that she would go to any lengths to defeat the SP. She said that her party’s ideology was completely different from that of the BJP. “We will not form an alliance with them under any circumstances”, she said. The BJP has already made it clear that it has no need for support from the BSP. Mayawati also said that she was strong enough to face the next round of polls- that for the legislative council on her own. “I will not be pressurised by anyone. I will also not retire from politics”, she read from a statement.
