As the OTT platform is flooded with Army related content, the ministry of defence has written to the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) with serious objections over some web series, saying they hurt the sentiments of the defence personnel.

Taking note of multiple complaints regarding a web series titled XXX Uncensored (season 2), produced by Ekta Kapoor, the ministry of defence has approached the CBFC, Mumbai claiming that the web series is "depicting Indian Army personnel and military uniform in a distorted manner”.

In an internal note to the CBFC, the MoD says that it has been brought to the notice to this ministry that some production houses, making films on Army themes, are using content which are distorting the image of the Indian Army.

"Therefore, the producers of the movies/web series etc based on Army theme may be advised to obtain the NoC (no objection certificate) from the ministry of defence before the telecast of any movie or documentary on Army theme in public domain," the MoD note stated. It also added that the production houses may also be advised to "ensure that any incident which distorts the image of defence forces or hurts their sentiment may be prevented".

Recently, several complaints were lodged against Alt Balaji’s XXX Uncensored web series based on lives of Army personnel. Taking note of the scenes in the web series, the Martyrs Welfare Foundation (MWF) is learnt to have raised strong objections against the show and stated that Army soldiers sacrifice their lives for the country, but the series’ producer and director have depicted that Armymen’s wives are intimate with other men at home when their husbands are away serving on the borders.

In their complaint, martyrs foundation claimed that the show insults armed forces and military personnel by portraying scenes where uniforms of military men, with symbols of Ashoka statue and Taj, are torn apart.

Several movies, based on the life military personnel, are lined up to be released on OTT platforms like Ajay Devgan-starrer Bhuj: The Pride of India and Janhvi Kapoor's Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil GirlBhuj is based on the life of IAF Squadron leader Vijay Karnik, the then in-charge of the Bhuj airport, who and his team reconstructed the IAF airbase with the help of 300 women from the local village Madhapar during 1971 Indo-Pak war. Gujan Saxena is a biopic on country's first Air Force woman officer who went to war during 1999 Kargil.
