Digvijaya Singh digs out old videos of Scindia lambasting PM Modi

A day after Rajya Sabha member Jyotiraditya Scindia profusely praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi at a public gathering in bypoll-bound Agar in Madhya Pradesh, his upper house colleague and senior Congress leader Digvijaya Singh on Wednesday shared a series of video clips of Scindia attacking Modi and BJP viciously while in Congress.

In the past few days, Scindia who defected to BJP in March and dislodged the Congress government in Madhya Pradesh in the process, has not only been praising Modi and MP Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, but also attacking ex-CM Kamal Nath and Digvijaya Singh on every available opportunity.

In one of the tweets, Digvijaya Singh said “How different are the earlier and present statements made by Maharaj (Scindia) regarding Modi ji. Has Modi ji forgiven him? Modi ji is not known to forgive anyone. But I am happy that now Maharaj is getting a lot of respect.” Singh has posted the videos on other social media platforms, too.

The individual and compilations of video clips posted by Singh show Scindia attacking PM Modi viciously while giving statements to media or addressing public gatherings, when he was a Congress leader.

Scindia can be heard lambasting Modi on his stand on Pakistan, his sudden visit to the neighbouring country to ‘eat Biryani’ and his 'failure' to give martyr status to the CRPF personnel killed in Pulwama. He can also be heard referring to ex-prime minister Indira Gandhi on her great role in slicing Pakistan into two (after Bangladesh war of 1972).

On Tuesday, in the Agar public gathering, Scindia had attacked Indira Gandhi indirectly by terming emergency imposed by her as a ‘lockdown of democracy’.

In another video, Scindia is heard saying that he wanted to tell PM Modi that every worker of Congress will be willing to have their head severed rather than bend their heads. Referring to this video, Singh said that this means that those who have bent did not ever understand the Congress and rather could never become true Congress persons. 

Digvijaya also took swipe at Rajasthan ex-deputy chief minister Sachin Pilot by posting videos where both Pilot and Scindia can be seen together and they speak of the great Congress culture and how the party always accommodated everyone. Pilot, who has recently rebelled from Congress putting the party’s Rajasthan government in trouble, is heard saying that Congress always put across its views clearly and if leaders have clean heart and right intention, people will always support them irrespective of the tirades of BJP, RSS and VHP.

Quoting this video, Singh said “Now, how can people have trust (on the leaders)?. Just think.”

In the same video, Scindia is heard saying that for the thought and ideology of Congress, the country is priority, but for the BJP elections are the priority. BJP puts everything into elections and does not work on the ground, Scindia says in the video.
