India witnessed the biggest jump in COVID-19 cases from March 27 to March 28, with 149 patients testing positive for the disease. Over 900 cases have been reported, including 20 deaths. The Union health ministry, had said two days ago that the rate of increase in infections has stabilised. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while discussing COVID-19-related issues with people in Varanasi via video-conferencing, said the fight against coronavirus will be won in 21 days. “The battle of Mahabharata was won in 18 days, and the fight against coronavirus will take 21 days,” he said.
Prominent astrologers in the country The Week spoke to exuded the same confidence. Astrologer Chithrabhanu K. Poduval said the number of cases would reduce after April 15, but he said it will be around mid-June that India will be able to completely eradicate coronavirus. “By imposing the lockdown, I feel PM Modi is encouraging citizens to be safe and trying to reduce the number of people who are getting infected,” said Poduval. “But the world will suffer because of the virus in some manner or the other till September.” Poduval said that in his assessment, the virus came into existence because of deep-sea fishing in northeast China and snake trapping in Shenyang, Yentai and Dalian regions of China. “Also, the placement of Rahu in Mithuna Rashi, and the unique conjunction of Jupiter, Mercury, Sun, Moon, Shani and Ketu gave rise to corona pandemic,” he said.
Poduval said that the combustion of Mercury around April 25 will help India and the world to halt the virus to a great extent. “Astrologically and scientifically the sun inactivates this virus and prevents it from spreading,” he said. In fact, Poduval in November 2019, had predicted that environmental and biological changes will run its course to a crisis around February-March 2020. “My prediction came true,” he said.
Astrologer Parappanangadi Unnikrishna Panicker, who was the personal astrologer to former Tamil Nadu chief minister J. Jayalalithaa, said coronavirus will cease to exist in India after May. “After May there will be very few coronavirus patients left here. It will almost finish by April end. Coronavirus hates the sun, and summer season has begun in most parts of the country. Sun will protect us for sure,” he said.
Panicker said he would recommend people to chant Maha Mrityunjaya Mantra, as that will help in a big way. “Such a dangerous situation has occurred because of planetary combination of dosham yogam, vasundhara yogam [that affects nations and nature] and kala sarpa yogam at the same time, which rarely happens,” he said.
Astrologer Vamanan Nampoothiri said this episode is temporary and has to pass soon. “I haven't made any detailed study in this regard, but I feel there is no need to panic. Let us be optimistic. Being pessimistic will worsen matters,” he said. Astrology, Nampoothiri said, is a combination of statistics, probability theory and intuition. “Let us remain hopeful of things falling in place sooner rather than later,” he said.
Astrologer Kanippayyur Narayanan Namboothiripad said India will win the battle against the virus, but the wait could be a tad longer. “Things will improve in the country after April 15. To be precise, around May 4. The virus is spreading mostly from people who have returned to India from abroad. I suggest we ban international flights to and from India till June 30,” he said. Ethology, Namboothiripad said, needs to be taken more seriously by people. “We should take care of nature from now onwards and serve its needs regularly, or else we are inviting bigger trouble,” he said.
