Taranjit Singh Sandhu has been appointed the next Ambassador of India to the United States, the Ministry of External Affairs said in a statement.
Sandhu, a 1988-batch Indian Foreign Service officer, is presently the High Commissioner of India in Colombo.
Sandhu replaces Harsh Vardhan Shringla who has been named as India's next foreign secretary.
