Tanveer Sait, a Congress MLA, was injured on Sunday night after he was attacked at a wedding reception in Mysuru.

Sait sustained injuries on his neck after the attacker, Faraan Pasha, slashed him with a dagger. Sait was rushed to Columbia Asia Hospital in Mysuru. His condition was reported to be stable after surgery.
Sait represents the Narasimharaja constituency in Mysuru. Sait had been a minister in the Congress government of Siddaramaiah.
According to sources, Pasha (24) was identified as an activist of the Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI), a Muslim political outfit. Pasha was a resident of Ghousia Nagar, which falls under Sait's constituency. Pasha was immediately arrested after the attack as he sought to escape. He was caught and beaten up by supporters of Sait, before being handed over to police.
